I did try EXPLAIN PLAN, and it looked reasonable. (That's when I found out it ran so much faster in SQL*Plus....)

As I mentioned, I'm fairly new to PL/SQL, so I'm not sure how I would go about "setting event 10046 and looking for waits".... Could you elaborate, or point me at some documentation that explains what that is?
