Hi Susan, there is a tool out there called Karma, that was modelled after big brother - http://www.iheavy.com/karma/test/

There is also Oracle plugins for Nagios (formerly Netsaint) - http://www.nagios.org , the plugins for Nagios are fairly easy to write so you can add pretty well anything you want.
