[Quoted] All right then, here's the update.
I have created a database on AIX, one with raw logical volumes, one on file
system.
I have backed up both cold and hot.
Cold: Restored db onto SuSE linux did not open or access anything at all.
Hot: Created new control file but said, that sys001 (SYSTEM tablespace) was
not a valid datafile. And, all datafiles are reported 100% corrupted (page
per page) on SuSE (dbv). Oracle support confirmed in two different
occasions, that physical backup/restore between platforms is not possible.
I just verified that this statement is true.
What a pity.
I can understand about raw logical volume, but not necessarly about file system, but looks like data file structure/header is different. What a pity, really.
sigh.
Have a nice day and thank you for all constructive critic or contributes.
Please refrain from comments like "I said it in the first place". I have read them, too. _I_ tried it.
