Hi!

I am using an Oracle based application on Unix in which I do want to start a process at a certain time in the night because I want to skip the time the database is not accessible in the middle of the night (backup routines). The process thakes about 18 hours runtime, so starting directly after the backup process I would be able to perform this within one working day without having to pospone the backup process.

The proces that I want to start is encrypted by the manufacturor of the program and can not be found and started separately.

Therefore here my, maybel stupid question:

[Quoted] Would it be possible to do the following from within a Unix shell file:

(1) start the application (I know this so far)
(2) navigating through the (sql) menu
(3) similation a Key press event on the keyboard.

If this would be possible I would be able to schedule the performance this [Quoted] macro like shell file with the at commando. Is something like this possible and how do I simulate key strokes with Unix commando´s?

Thanks,

Ronald. Received on Tue Dec 03 2002 - 15:27:40 CET
