It is obvious that oracle have been shifting towards the Java model.
Java in the database,SQLJ,JDeveloper and so on.

The latest release of forms (9i) does not include the ability to run forms client/server, only web forms. Web forms are basically forms converted to java applets via java swing.
I was told by an Oracle person that 9i forms will be the last release of this s/ware. Whether demand will force another version remains to be seen. Because he mentioned that Oracle DID want to get developers onto JDeveloper.

To develop in forms is still a quick and easy way to get an application onto the web in 'Java'.  Knowing Forms and web forms deployment is no bad thing. But you'd cover your bets if you learnt Java as well.
