The migration assistants migrates databases 'in situ', so you don't get a
new database out of it, either on the same machine or on a different
machine. If you didn't install 8.1.7 on the same server as 7.3.3, you can
only use export/import to migrate.
I would consider export/import the preferred method anyway:
- if you screw up, you still have the old database - you reorganize the database at the same time - all your 7.3 rowids have been converted to 8+ format.
