If you have to to this on a regular base and you have a SQL*Net connection between the databases, you can work with snapshots. If you can use fast refreshable snapshots (refer to the oracle docu what criteria has to be fullfilled for a fast refreshable snapshot) you can refresh frequently.
This works for read-only and updateable snapshots as-well.
