Hello everybody,

is it possible for a Oracle Enterprise Manager Client (OEM-Client) to connect to a Oracle Enterprise Manager Server (OMS) only by providing the server's IP-Address?

The environment is pretty simple. There is a Win2K server, running 8.1.7. and OMS 2.2 everything installed using "standard" option. The client is a Win2k machine with OEM-Client 2.2. The entire setup is for 'research & get-some-experience' only.

The tricky part is, that both machines can't get each others IP by providing the entire hostname (through standard DNS-Service). This status is only temporary, but I got nosily about this task.

Well, I tried to get the connection done, only by providing the IP-  but there was no success.

I tried to get sqlplus working on the client machine and it worked out pretty good, only by providing the IP-address of the DB-server in the tns....files.

Has anybody any ideas, hints, how-tos about OEM-client setup?

Thanks in advance
