Designer: awe61.exe generates errors

In order to get Designer 6i installed on my machine, I uninstalled all my previous Oracle software from my Windows 2000 machine. Then I first installed the Designer 6i client. Then I reinstalled Forms and Reports 6i. Then I reinstalled Oracle 8i Enterprise Edition rel 2. Then I installed the repository on an 8.1.6 database. I am sure that my repository owner has all the proper permissions. Designer connects to the repository and I can create an application system which I do in the repository navigator.

I can start an ERD diagram and create an entity. Still OK. Then I double click on the entity and bring up the edit entity dialog box. Still OK.

Then I select one of the tabs, for example, Att, and almost immediately a program error window pops up saying:

awe61.exe
has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. An error log is being created.

I check the desinger2000.log, but I don't see there what the error could be.
