The best way to understand what makes Oracle tick is to role your sleeves up and get your hands really dirty.

Oracle is a wide spectrum. You decide which aspect you want to pursue and for what reward. DBA, Developer, Designer ?

If you want to become a well read DBA (capable of DBA tasks) no course will give you the same depth of knowledge that you'll get installing Oracle on your own machine and playing around. Decide on a pet project and try to complete it.

If you visit www.oracle.com and technet on the same site you can get a huge wealth of info and there are loads of downloads for free.

This is something that Oracle has done which I take my hat off to. Letting Developers/DBAs etc download for free (for personal use only)

Also, don't panic when you hear that there is a newer release out. When you have mastered one release picking up the next one will be easier than you think.

Good Luck.
