More specifically, JDeveloper is a PIG!!!! It requires a lot of memory. We installed it on a workstation with 64 M of RAM and it was a dog. We then installed it on a machine with 128M of RAM and it ran much better. It was still a little slow, but much better. Even though I haven't tried it, I suspect that it will run even faster on a workstation with 256M of RAM. Now where did I put it......
