Hi, there,

When install and configure Oracle Application Server 4.0.8.1, the OAS server started succesfully. But when attemped to create a new DAD (data access descriptor which provides the OAS's database server access), it failed with messeages imfamous ORA-12203.

The same configuration using SQL*Plus is connecting to database server.

The system has one database server runing Oracle 8.0.5 with SID=ORCL, alias HOME in TNSNAMES, with TCP/IP, NAMES PIPE protocol adapters installed on Windows NT 4.0. This server is Primary Domain Controller.

The system has one OAS server installed on Windows NT4.0 Standalone server with the same Domain name as the PDC. It has TCP/IP and NAMES PIPE protocol adapters. This middle tier machine is configured as Oracle 8.0.5 client with Oracle_Home in C:\orant. Using SQL*Plus and Net8 to connect to the server, it worked fine. The OAS is installed on the same machine but with different drive: D:. The Oracle_Home for it is OAS, and the directory is D:\oas. The same TNSNAMES.ORA file in its \NETWORK directory was copied from c:\orant\net8\admin.

Can you please tell me why the client can connect through SQL*Plus but not through DAD?
