Rollback segment sizing for Designer

Hi,
Excuse my ignorance but I'm just learning about DBA tasks and I'm wondering if anyone can give me any advice on how to size my rollback segments in a database being used solely for Oracle Designer.
I've been playing about with various sizes and numbers of extents within my rollback segments but can't seem to escape the 'SNAPSHOT too old' error when using the designer API to copy tables from one application system to another.
Currently I have four rollback segments configured as follows:
initial: 100K
next: 500K
maxextents: 1000
... which if I'm correct gives me roughly 48M rollback space when a rollback segments is used (I gather that Oracle uses one segment at a time in a cyclic fashion?)
Should I have larger extents than this or just allow more of them?
Any help would be gratefully received.
Thanks,
Angela
