I am rather new to Oracle and I was wondering about the object technology of it.
Are the object oriented tables part of any ANSI or other standard? I program using Java/JDBC and most of the time I create a relational table to store my object fields. However, the object oriented aspect of Oracle makes it seem very easy to store and retrieve objects, however my main concern--is it portable? Do other db vendors support object oriented tables or is there an upcoming standard? Additionally, can JDBC communicate with object oriented table structures?
Thanks for any insight.
