forms 6 open api nuts and bolts

I want to use the "open api" to make changes to forms, such as is described in the document EIT-DE-WP-56 "Using the Oracle Forms Application Programming interface (API)". This document did not get down to details such as compiling and linking a program. I'd like to know what compiler(s) people have been able to use (winnt) and what oracle directories have to be searched for include files and libraries? So far I've been able to figure out the \orant\forms60\api directory is necessary but there must be more. I'd really appreciate it if someone could share this info! thanks!
