[Quoted] Dear Oracle Expert,

Could you please advise me of a good book for Oracle DB? My preference is for buying a reasonable all in one book if possible.

I intend to build applications that should connect to such a DB. My knowledge of db is academic and of 15 years ago.

Such a book should give the recipe of how to do things but also give an understanding of the overall functionality of an Oracle db in the context of todays computing requirements/reality. That is, it should be a quick reference for an expert but also good for a beginner.

For example, I don't know what Oracle implementation is available, drivers, or if SQL is tem most appropriate language to use with, etc.

I am working with CORBA with which I will have to access Oracle. The CORBA book that reflects what I say above is that of Henning&Vinoski

"Advanced CORBA programming with C++".
[Quoted] It is good for beginner and continues being useful as a mind refresher.

Thank you very much.
