How to reduct CPU utilisation

We are running Oralce applications in a IBM unix box along with several other in-house developled applications. Recently we observed that the CPU consumption of listener connections is pretty high (sometimes 9? % in peak hours). After drilling down on these connections, they are connected to the concurrent managers. Is there any way to reduce CPU consumption ?
