Oracle 8i Lite and Developer 6

I am trying to install Oracle 8i Lite and Oracle Developer 6 on Windows NT. I've done numerous attempts throughout the past weeks, trying different orders of installation, completely cleaning up (both oracle home and registry) each time.

The problem is that I can't get SQL*Plus to work with Developer 6 installed. SQL*Plus works fine until I install Dev6. After that, I recieve the error message "OCA-30002: ubofscr function not supported" when I try to connect to the database via the SQL prompt.

Dev6 manages to connect to both the default database (POLITE) and an other database instance which I've created manually using the createdb utility.

The Oracle8 Navigator also connects fine to both databases.

But SQL*Plus doesn't manage to connect at all.

SO: Anybody knows whats going on, and is there any way to fix/eliminate this strange problem?
