There are a few other files required for the run-time installation to work (so hopefully more were installed than the single DLL). If you can't see the driver in the list of drivers for the machine in the ODBC Administrator, then the appropriate registry entries were never made to inform the administrator that a new driver was installed.

I suspect that 3.0 will work on 98, but that platform didn't exisit when the 3.0 version was released and since it was deprecated for the 4.0 version, I doubt that Oracle keeps the older versions available for download on their site.

It appears that your runtime installation was not complete, if your comrade still has the original distribution CD -- it included a runtime install of it's own that you could use. Received on Mon Jan 03 2000 - 17:58:05 CET
