Are you sure that Oracle install went fine? The installer is a big mess, it tells you that install succeeded despite it gave error/warning messages during install. Is your database installed and created properly? Are the permissions right?

The Linux distributions using glibc2.1 are need to be patched. You can find the glibc-patch at the ftp.oracle.com site..

And BTW you didn't specify what error message you've recieved..
