JAVA and OAS 4.0.7

Can anyone help a newbie on a simple problem. Oracle database 7.3.2
OAS 4.0.7
Trying the JWEB product to 'web enable' my database.

Why does the following line fail?

Session.setProperty("ORACLE_HOME", System.getProperty("OracleHome"));

without it I do not appear to be able to start a database session?

Any help would be appreciated.
