OEM: stopped working - Help!

I have used Oracle Enterprise Manager for years on my PC's and it simply dies after I enter info on the logon dialog. The error says:

"This program has performed an illegal operation and will shut down VAS caused an invalid page fault in midule <unknown> at ...."

All of the tools do this!?!: Schema Manager, Instance manager, Security Manager, etc...

I did a total un-install and a "re" install from CD, v1.4. Do you have any insight? Also, here is an observation: in the last couple of weeks I have downloaded and installed PERL and JAVA SDK1.2.1. Thanks MUCH!
