The toadman is being a bit too modest.
Do you do any dba work? I bought the commercial version early on since toad had been saving me time for nearly a year. So I guess I fit into the category of those who bought the product just to show my support. Since the user and role editor window, I couldn't go back to the free version. The problem is that toad changes so much from week to week that it's hard to pinpoint specific features I use as new version or free version.
So, maybe you need to try the trial version or download that list of changes. Even if either one is out of synch a week or so, you'll get a good idea of the differences.
Either way, free or not, you really can't loose.
