Oracle Web listener (files limits)

We are using Web server 3.0.1 on NT, and we're encounting a limitation on number of files in a directorectory larger than around 2000. Every time we are trying to acces a file for that virtual path the listener is going down. It seems the problem would be on the oracle listener because we can add as much as file as we want in that directory

Does anybody encounter that problem, or do anybody have a solution, we have to keep a lots of file in that directory
