I'm afraid there are only work-arounds or tricks.
With Discoverer 3.0.8 you must created a view in your database which contains the SQL-statement. After this, you can create a folder in a business area, which will be based on the database view. In the user edition you can make a workbook based on this folder.
With Discoverer 3.1 you can create a custom folder (insert - folder - custom), which will let you enter almost any valid select-statement. Enter your select-statement and create a workbook in the user edition based on this custom folder.
