Forms 4.5, missing mouse_up, mouse_click events on text items

I've noticed that my form is missing some mouse events when the mouse is in a text item.

e.g I have a block, whenever the mouse is clicked I want to use go_item to move the focus to another item (in fact, I'm constantly trying to move focus to a text item into which I'm entering data from a barcode scanner). There are also a couple of buttons on the same canvas, when these are pressed and on completion of their other actions they also send their focus to the text item.

However, I've noticed that things are going wrong! It's possible to click on the block, and then hit a button. On completion, the button still has focus...

On checking, it seems to occur when the clicking of the block doesn't produce the mouse_up and click events... I can see this happening and reproduce it quite easily by clicking at certain rates - fairly quickly, but slower than a double-click!

This doesn't seem to happen if the block items are display items...

Any thoughts as to what is happening?
