On unix dont even bother with it, if the version is < 7.3. 7.3 and above the snmp files auto configure themselves based on listener.ora and tnsnames.ora files.

in theory(i've yet to get it to work on unix, works like a champ on NT), lsnrctl dbsnmp_start

should start the intelligent agent. my environment on unix could have been hosed up as its been > 1 year since i messed with IA on unix. If you want to know how it works on NT, i've gotten that to work decently.
