Forms 5.0 Menu Item and Hint

I am adding menu items to the menudefs.mmb menu and have a problem. I am getting different message line behavior when I click on the save icon to save changes. If I use DEFAULT&SMARTBAR for the Menu Module of a form and I click on the save icon, the number of records saved is displayed on the message line. When I make my modifications to the menudefs menu and use it as the Menu Module and click on the save icon, the number of records saved is displayed on the message line, but it is quickly replaced by the Hint for the menu item. I tried changing the Hint to a blank value, but then the number of records saved is quickly blanked out. So, my question is, how do I get the number of records saved (or errors) to remain longer than a second or two with my own menu module? I would like the user to see if the records were saved, or if there were any errors. Or, maybe there is a better way to display this to the user.
