You can. If your NLS_LANG environment doesn't recognise the characters from your ascii file characterset, you can set the particular characterset in your loader's controlfile. You specify it just before you specify the input file. The syntax is

    "CHARACTERSET characterset_name",
 for example CHARACTERSET WE8ISO8859P1
