OO4O Data Control and Various Component Problems

We wrote an application in VB4 using Oracle Objects for OLE, eschewing the Oracle data control because it did not work well with VB4. We had more or less complete control over the population of all components and over DML, and the app worked well, but to do the job thoroughly took us far too much time.
We're attempting a similar application in VB5, this time using the OO4O data control. But we are encountering some difficulties. Especially troublesome are third-party dbCombo controls. We have tried Sheridan's and Apex's so far. The Sheridan dbCombo (from DataWidgets v.3) is correctly populated and the dropdown list is good, but it does not stay in synch with the underlying data control --the one that writes back to the database-- when that data control is repositioned. The Sheridan dbcombo just stays blank as if it were not getting the news that the underlying data had changed. The Apex does not stay in synch either.
If anyone out there is successfully using this combination:
- Oracle OO4O ver 2.2 or later data control
- VB5
- dbCombo (Microsoft, Sheridan, Apex, any other 3rd party)
any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tim
