Automatic Pop-Up menu?

Has anyone been able to programmatically make a field's or a button's popup menu come up? I'd like to have it so that when a user clicks on a button, the popup menu will appear automatically. I know that right-clicking will bring up the popup, but I'd like the left button click to do the same thing too.
