We developed SneakPeek postings as a result of many Usenet users' desire for a summarizing tool that would help them skim through the most active threads. Thus, SneakPeek postings are intended to help users with limited time keep abreast of group discussions, stay in touch with more groups, and check out new groups quickly.

Usenet is an environment where every voice should count equally. However, while some users have found SneakPeek postings useful, others have tried to shout it down, potentially resulting in the tyranny of a vocal few. Therefore, we encourage all to post their constructive opinions so that we may democratically decide if there is room for SneakPeek postings in Usenet.

SUBJECT: Oracle Reports Server crashes windows 95...
  • ddreams: I'm using Developer/2000 tools. A user recently complained that whenever they launched a report from within a form, it would work the first time but crash on subsequent reports. ...
  • Valery A. Sorokin: Do you have enough free disk space? Have your report many pages?

 ...

  • c699484: Yea, there is a few hundred megs free. 32 megs of ram, but it seems to be enough as long as other apps are shut down. The report can be many (many) pages, but I wasn't able to reproduce it on that machine, though the user swears it happens often.

SUBJECT: Size in the Select Statement
  • Arancha Ocaña: I have a problem with the size of select statement. It has about 400 characters, but when I try to execute it, appears cut in 256 aprox.

Can Anybody help me?

  • José Miguel Ordax Cassá: ... Hi Arancha:

Here there several Internet sites where you will find some information:

SUBJECT: Des2k 2.1: Can't restore applications: CDI-00210: Message not found; arguments [][][][]
  • Valery A. Sorokin: I can't restore my 12 applications in one application set. I use a big rollback segment (about 200Mb), but there is no effect.

In phase "Restoring applications" - 40%, I have en error:   CDI-00210: Message not found; arguments [][][][]  ...

  • TOnions: I had a similar problem with an ORA-0600 error when restoring applciations. The "workaround" for my problem was to increase the db block buffers SGA parameter to something large as Des2k was trying to do a very large set on inserts and filled the entire SGA in the process. Give it a try it may work.
  • Valery A. Sorokin: Thank you for your help.

I already restored my applications by drop/restore repository owner and loss one day. I cannot try it again.

SUBJECT: Using images items as 'Buttons' in Forms 5
  • Dean Grant: I have image items that I am using as 'buttons'. I can imitate button down and button up 'look', by programmatically changing the bevel of the item.

However, the problem lies in the fact that I can select a rectange on the image item using the mouse, and indeed then cut and paste that area. I suspect this functionality does not exist by accident, in as much as it allows one to cut and paste from image to image. Great, but NOT for my  ...

  • Marcel Claus: ... Why don't you just assign an icon/image to a button? This should solve your problem. In the properties sheet under functional set Iconic to Yes and in icon filename the path to the icon.
  • Dean Grant: Thanks for replying Marcel ...

The limit of 32 x 32 for icon size you are able to place on buttons is not sufficient for us.

SUBJECT: Printing contents of block in D2K
  • rathorer: Hi, If we do a print screen or try to use PRINT command it only prints the current displayed records. Is there any way to print all fetched records. Help is required
  • Valery A. Sorokin: In Forms 5.0 there is possibility to save all records in the block to a file.

 ...

  • Richard Woest: As far as I know it can't be done. In forms not necessarily all records are fetched at once. The number of records than can be displayed are displayed. The rest are put on a waiting list.
