Using images items as 'Buttons' in Forms 5

However, the problem lies in the fact that I can select a rectange on the image item using the mouse, and indeed then cut and paste that area. I suspect this functionality does not exist by accident, in as much as it allows one to cut and paste from image to image. Great, but NOT for my purposes.
I need to disable this behaviour. I need to be able to click down on an image item and drag the mouse without drawing/defining rectangles for cut and paste.
