Public Synonyms in Des2K V2.1

When I generate my tables from Designer 2000 (v2.5), I never have any public synonyms created. In version 1.3, I simply selected the option to have global support provided, and the synonms were automatically generated. This does not appear to be the case with the newer version. I tried to explicitly create the public synonyms via the Server Model Diagram (with the synonym_name that same as the table_name), but I got an error stating that there was a duplicate name.

I gave up and created the public synonyms manually. The next time I tried to generate a table from Des2K, I got a warning message during generation stating that it couldn't generate a synonym for the table. This got me to thinking that perhaps Des2K was trying to generate the DDL for the synonyms, but for some reason (configuration options??) it wasn't getting executed. I dropped the public synonyms (created from SYSTEM account), and my warning messages went away. But I still have no public synonyms. Can someone shed some light on this???

Thanks,

Ed Jennings
