Oracle Reports and Macintosh System 8.1 Problem

Our new application using Forms and Reports from the *last* version of Designer 2000 for Macintosh runs fine on pre g3 machines. However, when we recently tried to run it on a G3 Macintosh using system 8.1, we got a system error when printing a report longer than 4 pages. Everything still runs fine on a G3 using system 8.0. The error, issued by reports runtime, relates that reports is unable to secure an exclusive lock on file. The filename is something like 'dat0050000'. Apparently, this is a temporary file used to store data from long reports and the system is not locking properly.

ps. yes, i've been campaigning since the project started to discontinue using Macintoshes, to no avail. I fear that, if unresolved, this problem will force us away from Oracle, not away from Macs. Such are the politics here. Received on Sat Jul 25 1998 - 20:08:25 CEST
