  • ORACLE UPDATES DATABASE CLUSTERING SOFTWARE FOR NT Although Oracle8 was released nearly a year ago, until now Oracle's clustering software has only been available for Oracle7. The new releases of Oracle Parallel Server and Oracle FailSafe promise to improve the reliability and scalability of Oracle8 on NT.
  • TRAIL VERSION OF ORACLE8 SHIPPING WITH IBM NETFINITY SERVERS Oracle and IBM announced that a trial license of Oracle8 database server software will come with IBM Netfinity servers, IBM's line of Intel processor-based servers that are designed to run the Windows NT network operating system. This trial license allows IBM Netfinity customers to try Oracle8 free of charge for 60 days.
  • ORACLE AND HP TEAM UP FOR NCA AND ERP Oracle and Hewlett-Packard announced a program to offer joint customers service agreements that guarantee a 99.95 percent uptime for those using Oracle's Network Computing Architecture (NCA.) Oracle and HP also announced a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) application bundle, which includes Oracle's ERP and financial applications loaded on the HP NetServer LXr Pro rack-mounted for NT shops and HP 9000 for Unix users.
  • SAP #1, PEOPLESOFT #2, AND ORACLE #3 IN ERP MARKET PeopleSoft overtook Oracle in the enterprise resource planning (ERP) application market in 1997, while SAP continued to hold its commanding lead over all other players, according to a new study by research firm International Data Corporation (IDC).
  • ORACLE AND 3COM PLAN MOBILE HANDHELD PCS Oracle has a big presence with big companies with big servers. Now Oracle wants to make a name for itself in the handheld PC server market, and its got 3Com to help it do so.
  • INFORMIX OFFERS FREE NT DATABASE Why buy the cow when you can have the milk for free? Starting June 15 and lasting until the end of the year, Informix plans to offer a free license for its Dynamic Server database. Get it while you can.
