Hi,
I've used both PVCS and RCS with success. Granted, the version control is handed externally from the development tools (never got it to work integrated), but with the rule that ALWAYS put/get your code as TEXT files (meaning export the files to the ..T formats before giving it to the revision control system), everything works great and as a team efford you really get some helping in controlling the end result.

To my knowledge the market of revision control programs booms. As the exported source text files are not human understandable (well, almost!) most of the "nice tools" don't do much for the developer. Chosing any tool with the ability to safeguard sourcecode (don't let developers write there!) is a good choise. I've just not seen a tool that has a "demon" running that ensures that noone but an administrator can access the sourcefiles. Both PVCS and RCS is just simple filetools. Any developer can delete the complete revision source file if he wants .... bypassing the admin utilities and directly delete the file from the filesystem.
