Current Record Visual Attribute Group

It's not in the on-line help, but it sounds like it should allow you to specify a visual attribute group that would be applied to the current record, no? When I specify it for all the items in a block, run the form and navigate from record to record, the VAG is applied to every record I touch, but it's not unapplied from records other than the current one. Is there some other property I need to set, or is this a bug?
