Oracle 7.3 only uses SqlNet v2.x and there is not a DOS version of that protocol so any Forms3.0 will have to be converted to 4.5 and run under Windows...<<

  1. Actually, forms 3.0 has been able to run using sqlnet ver 2 since sqlnet ver 2 came out.
  2. Forms 3.0 is server based so the shop could run the server based version of forms 4.5, i.e., xterm based instead of installing pc software which is difficult to maintain in a rapidly changing environment if the customer does not have PC terminals
  3. While it is possible to run forms 3.0 against a ver 7.3 database I would suggest trying to upgrade the applications to forms 4.5 if at all possible. Forms 3.0 is not supported with Oracle ver 7.3

Please note that forms 4.5 and 5.0 can generate charater based screens for use with dumb tubes.
