Gary,
Since you are using named connections (aka you can use normal SQL*Net) you should use the alias Beq-Local (check in your %OH%/NETWORK/ADMIN/TNSNAMES.ORA file to make sure that entry exists for the bequeath adapter, if not then run SQL*Net Easy Config) and that should take care of whatever problems you are having. I use it against both PO7, PO8 and Oracle Enterprise Server (all were running on my PC at one point in time or another)
