Unless your webserver's name is host, you've got a problem. When you are doing the installation, you are prompted to enter in the machine name (the name the ip address of the machine is mapped to in DNS). This is what should be filled in the URL instead of host. So if your machine name is web1.mycompany.com the url you should connect to is http://web1.mycompany.com:8888/ows-abin/boot. The other possible problem you might have is that you didn't start the administration web listener. Before you can connect, you need to go to $ORAWEB_HOME/bin and execute the commands owsctl start admin.
