Error Message ORA-12547

[Quoted] I am writing a Pro*C 2.3 application against an Oracle 7.3 database on AIX 4.1 running on a RS6000. The app runs fine on it's own but under the debugger it refuses to connect to the database. I get the error ORA-12547 "TNS:lost contact". The AIX box has enough resources and is not overloaded ( as the error message suggests).

Could someone please help me with this?
