Des 2000 Process Modeller - Autolayout

When creating a process model the tool occasionally draws goofy lines (ie. crossing, etc.) I fix the lines so they no longer cross but as soon as I move any process in the diagram, the lines are automagically redrawn the original way. Is there a way to stop this? I've looked everywhere for an options setting but nothing jumps out at me.
