This isn't an answer, but may help. It sounds like a problem with the network/windows 3.11 install itself. Be sure your windows install is fully "network aware." Ask you network administrator for help. FYI, device=vshare.386 in [386 enhanced] section of system.ini does what DOS's share used to do -- involved in file sharing across a network.

Do other apps install from this network CD-rom? As an example, how about MS Excel (if you have it)? It also uses vshare.386.
