compressing index

My boss wants me to compress a fragmented Oracle index file without dropping and rebuilding the index. He has suggested that I use EXPORT. Does this make any sense? I thought that EXPORT worked at the table level. not index level. Anyone have any suggestions as to what is the fastest way to defrag an index? Thanks Received on Thu Jul 03 1997 - 00:00:00 CEST
