Just a stab in the dark, but could it be that the FTP operation is not converting the LF to CR-LF when you bring it down from unix and then put it back again? Perhaps the unix forms generator is choking on the eno-of-line characters after the FTP operation.

Then again, maybe not... I'm just thinking out loud here.
