Hello!

My name is Scott Urman, and I am the author of _Oracle PL/SQL Programming_, published by Oracle Press. The reason why I am posting this message is because I am working on the second edition of this book, which should hit the stores next June. In order to make the next edition more useful, I plan on including real-world problems and solutions, using PL/SQL. This is where I could use your help. I'm looking for an interesting problem which you have encountered in PL/SQL, whether or not you have solved it.

These case studies will be integrated throughout the book, where appropriate. For example, if your solution uses the built in character functions, then it would go in the chapter where I discuss the built in functions. I'm especially interested in solutions using the PL/SQL DBMS packages such as DBMS_PIPE, DBMS_ALERT, DBMS_JOB, UTL_FILE, and DBMS_SQL.

If you don't want to send me code, that's fine. Even a description of a problem would be useful - that way you can compare my solution to yours. I would appreciate any submissions, emailed to me at surman_at_us.oracle.com. If you have any other suggestions for how I can make the second edition of this book more useful to you, or comments about the first edition, please let me know those as well.

Please feel free to forward this message to anyone whom you think would be interested.

Thanks in advance!
