Don't use Microsoft's or Oracle ODBC driver. Get a third party one.

Access needs to go through Jet to ODBC to Oracle so its not very efficient. An Oracle database requires significantly more administration than access (and most others). Be prepared to have someone become a "real" dba.

You may want to consider SQL Server, it is a smoother migration and Microsofts tools are specfically geared to work well with it.
