ReportWriter Question

I have a report with three queries. The first is the 'master' query and the remaining two are 'detail' queries tied to the first one with links.

I've defined the default layout as 'tabular' and then went to the layout window and re-defined the resulting repeating frames as 'down' (as opposed to the 'down/across' that the tabular report chooses for you)...

I get the following layout: (I realize varying fonts may make this look like crap, but here's hoping you all are using Courier font!)

  • ---------------------- -------------- | (Master Query) | | (1st Detail) | | (2nd Det) | | | | | | | V -------- -------- -------- | V -------- -------- | V -------- | | |Field1| |Field2| |Field3| | | |Field4| |Field5| | | |Field6| | | -------- -------- -------- | | -------- -------- | | -------- | | | | | | |
  • ---------------------- --------------

Field1, 2 and 3 always return a value. Whenever Field4 and 5 do not return a value I find that Field6 ends up printing RIGHT next to Field 3. My aim is for the space where Field4 and 5 normally print be vacant whenever there is no value.

I've not found anything specific to this situation in the manuals and I haven't found any books at the book stores for ReportWriter specifically. Will some kind soul please let me know what can be done to achieve this?

One more thing... please reply directly to fluna_at_ssa580.ssofa.com as I do not have access to newsgroups at work as of yet...

Thanks...
