Are you confusing 1.5 gigabytes with 1.5 terrabytes?
It is hard to imagine even an old machine these days that will not have 10/20/more gigabytes available.
I don't know XE ... normally as you install oracle and create a "starter" database you have the choice of having oracle install a canned database ( pre built ) or creating a totally new one. If you are able to choose the totally new one then you can customize the size of datafiles as the database is created.
